Philosopher and author James K.A. Smith outlines the dangers of giving our trust, and ultimately our worship, to things that cannot bring us true fulfilment, such as money, social media and the approval of others. Drawing from the philosophy of Augustine he reminds us that, “As creatures of infinite desires we need to find something infinite to love.” Chasing fleeting passions creates in us as a restlessness that can only be stilled by the giver of rest, available to all of us through the gospel of Jesus.
